3 days ago Ā· The Canon EOS R100 is our top pick when it comes to Canon cameras for beginners. Itās the best all-rounder, with excellent specs for photos and videos. But thereās also the Canon EOS M50 II if youāre into vlogging. And the Canon EOS M200 is ideal if you want something compact.
The M50 sensor is far superior from a phone but the lenses are not. The final result is that the M50 has no better image quality at the output than a good smartphone. In video the smartphone beats the Canon M50.
Use your m50 and kit lens since you already own them. Donāt buy another lens and spend that money on some LED lighting and a gimbal. Use the m50 where appropriate and the phone for other things. Modern smartphones have very good video options and really only struggle with low light.
The original M50 was such a good camera (overall - no world record in a single category) in its price segment that - maybe - Canon decided to keep interest alive by badging it mark ii. Lagging of some advanced features lets me hope for Mxyz with IBIS, EVF and full sensor 4k - and a f/2 15mm + f/2 60mm or similar (and maybe a f/4 9mm :)
Not for 4k because of the massive crop and bad af but for 1080p video its a really great option. Its also great for stills and even though canons own lens selection is somewhat limited, third party manufacturers like sigma offer some amazing lenses.

The M50 Mark II is a good choice for photographers and videographers looking for a compact and lightweight camera that delivers a good image and video quality. Can Canon M50 Mark II shoots 4K? Yes, the Canon M50 Mark II can shoot a 4K video.
The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is a mirrorless camera for demanding shooters who require one of the best image capture systems from a digital system. The Canon EOS M50 Mark II can shoot up to 10 frames per second in full-resolution RAW with Dual Pixel autofocus. It can also shoot 4K at up to 25fps, Full HD at up to 60fps and HD720p at 100 or 120fps.
